Raising Community Awareness In Mental Health

FERNEY DUERO

My name is Ferney Duero, I am an artist and environmental educator of recycle watch parts – creating innovative ways to provide education about social responsibility through Art.

My intention with this Artwork project is to encourage people to look at the things we throw away with new eyes, so that next time, they may consider alternatives such as repair, reuse, repurposing or recycling .

Also to raise YOUNG SUICIDAL AWARENESS through the use of the TIME in a more practical way.

During the Pandemic, Latinos and Spanish speakers played a very important role in sustaining and developing the economy of the United Kingdom, immigrants who worked in jobs that nobody wants.

Despite the crisis and the strike of most companies, our immigrant group continued to work in sectors and positions that the others did not choose, the delivery of medicines and essential products, agriculture, construction or cleaning of streets and hospitals are some of the tasks that are included.

But if we stop and think about the psychological impact and fear that these people faced when they left their families to protect the rest of Society, we would realise that many of these young Latinos opted for easy options such as “the suicide”. Caused by loneliness, little communication and lack of family union that affected us in this time of chaos.

For this reason and due to the indifference of many people, we are planning an exhibition in the month of June, to gain visibility and awareness in our society and also to improve the quality of life of people with mental health problems and their families.
